I am a big fan of Canon SD870 because of its wide angle lens and good image quality of Canon.
But the low light capabilities of FujiFilm F30 at higher ISO levels is making me change my decision and go for a FujiFilm F30 as soon as possible :)

F40 is nothing like what f30/31 offered . The sensor size is almost same but the number of pixels hv increased a lot . So that makes the single pixel smaller in size . And once it gets small it doesnt perform well in low light .
I dont think u get the option in camera which can let u decide the amount of pixel you use . Every single one of the pixel is used when u shoot at the smallest size and lowest quality and like wise for the higest size and quality.
The photograph gets reduced in post processing which is done by image processor inside the camera and it has nothing to do with the sensor .
So f40 will never perform like f30/31 . If you can get used f30/31 i say go for it .
Face detection and feature like it are not of that use They are marketing stunts . Our eye is way better at finding the faces thn camera AI. And higher pixel is just a lure with a naked eye u wont be able to tell diff between 6 ,8 ,10 0r 12 mp . Mp is a square quantity . so next step to 6mp is 24mp .
If u r planning to buy a camera then G9 is the one i would suggest right now.
